I need to format harddisk and re-install Windows. How to backup these bookmarks and cookies with Firefox 2.0?

you can put your bookmarks online with delicious and sync them with any computer, anywhere and any time.
why would you want to save your cookies anyway? every website that creates them will create them again and many use them to report on you as spyware.
Open the browser, click file and then click import and export, from there you will be able to save them to a flash drive or another storage device, just follow the steps.
go to 'My Computer' then
click on 'Local Disk" then
'Documents and Settings' then
go to your user profile folder then
'Application Data' then
'Mozilla' then
'Firefox' then
'Profiles' then choose your profile folder then
copy 'bookmarks.html' or the bookmarkbackups folder
*you might also want to copy
signons.txt and key3.db - I think this is for your
saved passwords
Click Bookmark > Organize Bookmarks > File > Export > choose location and save such as on a memory stick or backup drive.
After you reformat, install Firefox then organize bookmarks again only this time choose Import.
