How does the backup program Acronis True Image work?

I work in a small 2-person office and need to backup my desktop computer as well as my boss's Dell Inspirion laptop computer. Using the program mentioned above - when I backup files do I save them on discs? We don't have any tape backup drives or sticks (usb flash drives). Thanks!

With Acronis you can save directly onto DVD discs, but when I tried it it's soooooo slow.

So what i do is backup to a folder on my hard drive then i burn the images on DVD a lot faster but still annoying.

Eventually what i will do and what you should do is get a hard drive dedicated just for the backups.

If your data is business critical take the time and put them on dvd also.

Acronis is very versatile you can back up to just about any medium. Burn to CD, DVD burn image to hard disk, burn image to external usb hard disk, flash drive, you name it.

I have a 300GB hard drive in a usb enclosure dedicated to my acronis images.

I created a boot cd in Acronis that I use on any pc to boot into acronis and create an image on my usb hard drive mentioned above.
