I was put on antibiotics two days ago and told to use backup protection for the rest of this pill pack. With where I am in my pack and the course of my medication (2 pills a day for ten days, but it will end up being 11 because I took one pill at night and so the morning of the 11th day will be the last pill.) I had ten active pills, including the night I started the antibiotics, then my seven placebos. I have heard that you should use protection for the course of the medication and for seven days after, and then you are protected. Using that guideline I will have taken one active pill within that 7 day after period. But I have also heard that you need to take 7 active pills before you are protected. But since I will hopefully have had my period (little incident, so that's why I say hopefully) and will have started a new pack then I should be protected right? Or should I keep using condoms until I have taken 7 active pills?

use extra protection during the length of your meds, then for an extra 7 days after you start your new pack. Remember your period pills have no hormones in them just extra iron to start you period. You really do not have protection while on your period pills.

I'm sorry but no one wants to read this long, drawn out stuff....these questions are for your DOCTOR.

I say use protection until you are finished with the medication and keep protected even two weeks after you are finished. It's better to be safe then sorry.

id keep using condoms just till ur totally sure.

A week.

you confused with me your statement. If you were told to use back up protection for the rest of the pill pack do so and to be super safe I would use it the first week of the next pack just to be safe and you should be good to go
